Spengler Cup Davos
One of the oldest ice hockey tournaments in the world – a spectacular event every year!
Top sporting performance on ice: December 26–31, 2018
Every year, thousands of fans and ice hockey enthusiasts flock to Davos to experience an electrifying atmosphere in the Vaillant Arena.
The Spengler Cup is the oldest international hockey event. Each year, six different teams from all over the world compete against each other in a friendly showdown. With HC Davos as the host and Team Canada as the regular guest, the other participating teams change every year, which always provides for new exciting encounters.
UBS first became the main sponsor in 1985 and has now been supporting the Spengler Cup for more than 30 years. This sponsorship commitment is one of the longest partnerships in Swiss sport.
“Youngsters train with Spengler Cup stars”
Promoting young talent is a top priority for us. We believe that our efforts to communicate the joy of sport and provide targeted support to young talents should not be restricted to just athletics. Therefore, the "Youngsters train with Spengler Cup Stars" event, which has been held for over 15 years now, has been hugely popular among young fans.
On December 28, we are giving an opportunity to 70 children aged between eight and twelve to take to the ice with hockey stars. They will have the chance to train with players from the participating teams, learn some tips and tricks. This unique experience allows the juniors to gain valuable experience and get their hands on one or two autographs from their favorite players.
Spectators are of course also welcome to watch the kids training from 10 a.m. from the stands of the Vaillant Arena.
UBS Key Player
Who was the main game changer? Was it the top scorer, the goaltender or a defender? We want to reward top sporting performances. In every game, the UBS Key Player will be awarded to one of the players. And you, the spectators, can help us choose. Using the Spengler Cup app, you can vote for your favorite player – whether you are in the stadium or in front of the TV at home – and with a little luck win 250 g gold.
